2004 D’Argenzio
Pinot Noir Thorn Ridge Ranch – Klopp
Tasting Notes
Lush aromas entice with strawberry, floral cherry and a touch of earthiness. Abundant layers sweep the palate, with bright acidity balancing the ripe, intense fruit. A tapestry of anise, dried herbs, cloves and tobacco completes the long, graceful finish. This Pinot Noir shows excellent balance and complexity. This earthy Pinot Noir was grown in the Russian River Valley Appellation on the Thorn Ridge Ranch. One of the cooler regions for Pinot Noir, these rolling hills near Sebastopol receive lingering fog from the nearby Sonoma Coast. The limited direct sunlight and dry-farming technique restrict the vineyard yield to only 1.8 tons per acre. Soils are the Goldridge fine sandy loam, the region’s most coveted soil for Pinot Noir due to its ability to develop intensely flavored fruit.
Clones: Pommard 115 and Clones 666 and 667.
